LYNEports Signs MoU to Deliver Airspace and Vertiport Design Training at UC Berkeley

    ● LYNEports and UC Berkeley Sign MoU to Collaborate on Vertiport Design and Airspace Planning Training.
October 3, 2024

We are excited to announce that LYNEports has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of California, Berkeley, solidifying a collaborative partnership focused on advancing knowledge and skills in airspace planning and vertiport design.

This partnership will see LYNEports offering comprehensive training programs and workshops to both students and faculty at UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design. Participants will gain hands-on experience using LYNEports’ cutting-edge software to explore urban air mobility (UAM) infrastructure, preparing them for careers in the rapidly growing advanced air mobility (AAM) sector.

A Unique Course Offering:

This collaboration is spearheaded by Professor Simon Schleicher, an architectural designer, researcher, and educator known for combining architecture, engineering, and biology in his work. As an Associate Professor in UC Berkeley’s Department of Architecture, Simon is currently developing a course for graduate students that focuses on vertiport planning and infrastructure. The class, set to introduce students from various professional backgrounds to the challenges and opportunities of airspace design, will feature hands-on projects and practical applications.

About Simon Schleicher:

Simon Schleicher holds a Doctoral degree (Dr.-Ing.) from the University of Stuttgart and a Master of Architecture from MIT. His multidisciplinary approach to architecture, informed by engineering and biology, makes him an ideal partner for LYNEports in pushing the boundaries of urban air mobility and vertiport infrastructure design.

Past Collaborations:

LYNEports has a history of working with UC Berkeley, having previously contributed to teaching seminars on vertiport planning. These seminars introduced students to the future of AAM infrastructure, fostering a strong relationship between LYNEports and the University. This MoU takes that partnership to the next level by embedding LYNEports’ expertise into the curriculum and providing students with direct access to the industry’s best tools and knowledge.

Key Highlights of the MoU Include:

  • Training and Workshops: LYNEports will deliver in-depth training on airspace planning and vertiport design for both faculty and students.

  • Curriculum Integration: Airspace and vertiport planning will be incorporated into relevant courses, ensuring that students are industry-ready.

  • Internship Opportunities: Top-performing students will have the chance to secure internships and future job placements with LYNEports.

  • Access to LYNEports Software: UC Berkeley will receive discounted access to LYNEports’ software, enhancing students' practical learning experience.

  • Certificates and Recognition: Participants will receive certificates acknowledging their contributions and skills in the field of AAM infrastructure.

This partnership further strengthens LYNEports’ commitment to nurturing the next generation of professionals in architecture, engineering, and urban planning, ensuring they are well-equipped to lead the future of sustainable air mobility. Together with UC Berkeley, we are helping shape the future of vertiport and airspace design, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Stay tuned for more updates on our exciting collaboration with UC Berkeley!
