LYNEports emerged as the winner of the Aerospace Xelerated (AX) Startup Pitch Competition, held on Thursday, 25th July, at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow.

The Romanian company, renowned for its advanced air mobility (AAM) planning solutions, stood out among five other innovative finalists: Eddytec, Estuaire, Sora Aviation, OneGrab, and Flux Aviation. LYNEports was selected for its strong pitch, product potential, and its ability to make a significant impact in the AAM sector.

Award and Recognition

As the competition winner, LYNEports will receive a £5,000 prize, six months of mentorship from the Aerospace Xelerated team, and an exclusive exhibition space at the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow. Eddytec, the second-place winner, will also receive £2,500 and three months of mentorship.

“We are incredibly grateful to be recognized as the winner of this competition,” said Rasha Alshami, Founder & CEO of LYNEports. “Competing against such an inspiring group of startups has been an honor. We look forward to using this platform and reward to further our mission of merging airspace and ground space to be more inclusive, and bring the next generation of travel and aviation into our cities and communities in a safe and sustainable way.”

Competition and Judges’ Comments

The competition featured startups addressing three challenge areas: Innovative Workforce, Sustainability in Aerospace, and Next-Gen Travel. Of the 20 startups that applied, six were UK-based, nine were female-founded, and ten focused on sustainability.

Nichola Bates, Aerospace Xelerated’s Managing Partner and Boeing’s Head of Global Accelerators & Innovation Programmes, highlighted the importance of startups in addressing sustainability issues. “It’s exciting to see so many startups putting sustainability at the core of their business. This indicates we are moving towards a greener and more equitable future in aviation.”

Jacqui Sutton, Non-Executive Director at Farnborough International Ltd, praised the UK’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and the talent emerging from these startups. “The talent and creativity emerging from these startups are a testament to the strength and potential of our local industry.”

Aerospace Xelerated Program Director, Jacqueline Davidson, noted the significant participation of female-founded companies. “Having almost 50% participation rate of female-founded companies is a powerful indicator of the strides we are making towards gender diversity in aerospace.”

The Startup Zone

The pitch competition was part of the airshow’s first-ever dedicated Startup Zone, showcasing 16 startups backed by Aerospace Xelerated. The zone featured panel discussions, workshops, product demos, and more.

Nichola Bates expressed her honor in partnering with Farnborough International to host the Startup Zone. “We created a platform to highlight the innovative solutions of these early-stage companies to a global audience of industry leaders, investors, and enthusiasts.”
